Philip Watch Caribbean 1500 Orange 715 Case Bakelite Bezel

Jenny & Cie S.A. was founded in 1963 by Paul G. Jenny in Lengnau, Switzerland. Despite being lesser known than other Swiss watch companies from that era, they made some of the biggest achievements in the dive watch category. Jenny was the supplier of cases, movements, and fully built watches to a number of brands — including Philip Watch, Fortis, Ollech & Wajs, and Doxa to name a few.

The Jenny Caribbean was distributed under many different names. In 1997, the Jenny family acquired Doxa, and remain an independent company to this day.The Jenny Caribbean was the first watch to offer 1000m water resistance in the late 1960’s, predating efforts of notable contenders in the dive watch space like Rolex and Omega. This depth rating was achieved using the Triple-Safe system, which used a monocoque (front-loading) case, three gaskets, and an extremely thick crystal.

This piece is a Philip Watch iteration of the famous diver. It features the large 715 case with the triple-safe system. The dial is made of Scotchlite, which has metallic flakes mixed in and reflects like a street sign under direct light. The lume is tritium. The orange bakelite bezel is in excellent condition with no cracks. It winds in one direction with tactile clicks.

The overall condition of the watch is excellent. The dial and bezel are in almost perfect condition. The dial has some slightly faded text near 6 o clock. The case is in excellent condition, with few hairlines. The movement is running well, keeping time perfectly. The quickset date is functioning without issue.
