Jenny Caribbean 1500

Jenny & Cie S.A. was founded in 1963 by Paul G. Jenny in Lengnau, Switzerland. Despite being lesser known than other Swiss watch companies from that era, they made some of the biggest achievements in the dive watch category.

Jenny was the supplier of cases, movements, and fully built watches to a number of brands — including Philip Watch, Fortis, Ollech & Wajs, and Doxa to name a few. The Jenny Caribbean was distributed under many different names. In 1997, the Jenny family acquired Doxa, and remain an independent company to this day.

The Jenny Caribbean was the first watch to offer 1000m water resistance in the late 1960’s, predating efforts of notable contenders in the dive watch space like Rolex and Omega. This depth rating was achieved using the Triple-Safe system, which used a monocoque (front-loading) case, three gaskets, and an extremely thick crystal.

Standout features of this piece include the bakelite bezel with luminous markers, thick domed acrylic crystal which evokes the porthole of an underwater vessel, and beautifully aged puffy lume which has developed a warm hue. The dial simply reads 'Caribbean', instead of being explicitly associated with any of the aforementioned brands.

This piece comes with all original parts. The crown and caseback have the Jenny Fish logo. There are scratches on the bakelite bezel and the domed acrylic crystal.
